Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy…The trio who never ceases to impress us. These guys are versatile, upbeat & good. After my name is Khan, they deliver music for Karthik Calling Karthik. The album has 9 tracks out of which 3 are remixes. Let’s see what do they have stored in this album.
The album starts with melodious Clinton Cerejo, Shankar and Loy’s “Hey Ya”. A very chirpy track with loads of English lyrics..looks like its becoming fad to use those. Anyways, the number is quite catchy and gonna catch hold of youngsters. The song has a remixed version too which is more upbeat. I believe it will be soon on you PMP’s.
Next comes another brilliant number “Uff Teri Ada”. You would have seen the promos of the song on the idiot box. Shankar Mahadevan & Alyssa Mendonsa croons the song. the song soon going to hit the discs for sure. Also the song gives me a hint of trance with a desi touch. Not impressive lyrics but Shankar & Alyssa covers it with their voice and the cool music.
Another one in line is “Jaane ye kya hua hai”. Performed by my favourite KK, the song sounds like a college song. A soft melodious love ballad gives a variation to the album. Following this is “Kaisi hai Yeh Udasi”. Sung by Kailash Kher and Sukanya Purayastha, it’s a slow song which has good lyrics and sung very well but sounds somewhat melo to me. People in Love will love it.
Midival Punditz creates some magic with Karthik 2.0. Full of guitar streams, the music sets up some tone. Should be the background track for the movie. Then there is the title track of the film with vocals by Suraj Jagan, Shankar, Caralisa Monteiro and Malika Singh which is a full cocktail of English and Hindi lyrics. A lot like Don title track the mood of the song is dark.
Overall the album has a good look and feel and quite some variations. A lot of my friends expected a number from Farhan himself after Rock On but sadly nothing is there. Hey Ya & Uff Teri Adaa are the one which will catch up more. Shankar Ehsaan Loy creates anothr good album and doesn’t disappoint us.
