An Ode to Monsoon

Yesterday was sitting and reading while I saw rain drizzling outside. Quickly I went out to enjoy that rain..after sometime when I came back I decided to play some songs for the moment.

What’s songs you want listen on a cloudy weekend evening sipping coffee and watching the rain outside???

Here’s Mine :

Nahi Samne- Taal– A fantastic song with A R Rehman’s music. A perfect song for a lonely heart.

With Or Without you- U2- Another perfect song according to me to be heraed on the abckgorund while watching the rain drops falling outside

Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35- Bob Dylan

Riders On The Storm- The Doors

Raindrops Keep Fallin on My Head- BJ Thomas

November Rain- GnR- I love Slash’s guitar and the lyrics…Perfect

Ain’t No Sunshine- Bill Withers

Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua (Shree 420, 1955): Those early days were the times of subtlety.

Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si (Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, 1958)- With Kishore’ Da’s style of humour-in-singing, making it a cult song. Close your eyes and think of the song, all that will come to your mind would be Madhubala desperately trying to seek shelter under the roof, dry herself, and stay away from the direct vision of the ruffian mechanic. It’s not only a song, it is visual poetry at its best.

Aaj Rapat Jaye (Namak Halaal, 1982)- Smita Patil along with Amitji sings, dances, squirms, thrusts, grinds, heaves, pants, and shows off that all her curves are at right places. And, manages to not look vulgar at all. The world sat up and noticed. Atleast I did

Lagi aaj sawan ki phir wo jhadi hai – Chandni– the anguish of unfulfilled love touches a chord down there….add the haunting music of Shiv-Hari and Suresh wadkar’s lilting voice. Sridevi and Juhi Chawla – looking stunning in rain soaked avatars. Vinod Khanna as the anguished lover looks perfect. The lyrics too are poignant enough to create a stir within you and your heart

Rim jhim gire sawan – Manzil- visually this song is a delight. The picturisation is all about letting go off your inhibitions and just soak in the joys of life.

Coming Back to Life- Pink Floyd– The classic Floyd has to be there on the list. A perfect companion for a rainy day ,peg of scotch &  Pink Floyd….Comfortably Numb you shall be 🙂

Bheegi Bheegi Raaton me( Ajnabee – 1974 )- Kishore Kumar, Lata Ji And Anand BAkshi…Ahhhh what a combination

Neela Aasman So gaya- Silsila–  this song has to be on my list. Amitabh and Rekha togther…Awesomeness is the word.

Wake Me Up When September Ends- Green Day

The Reason-Hoobstank

John Denver- Annie’s Song

I wish you were Here- Incubus

Alive- Pearl Jam

You people can add more to this list…Suggestions welcomed
