READY- Salman’s Back- Music Review and Trailers

So Salman is back with Ready. Starring Asin, Paresh Rawal and directed by Aneez Bazme ,this is a remake of a South movie name by same name. Supposedly the movie is romantic comedy. Music is by Pritam and being a Salman movie after Dabangg the movie and music both have its own expectations.  Lets see if it lives up to the expectations musically at least.

Dhinka Chika is tipped to be the next Munni Badnaam. Sung by Mika Singh and Amrita Kak this song is full Tapori style song. Copied from already a hit Telegu song Ringa Ringa - the original by Devi Sri Prasad this song is well done in the Bollywood version too. Surely will make you get up and move. Next one is Meri ada bhi giving a Punjabi flavor to the Album. Sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Tulsi Kumar (WHY ON EARTH HER) the song starts with the popular ‘mera laung gwacha‘ lines. A Dance track wiht lots of Dhols but I feel something is a misfit in the song. Either its Rahat Saab or Tulsi  Kumar or something.

Another track that lifts the mood of the album is - Character Dheela - a song which is already making noises all around. A typical Salman song and surely suits him too. With Lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya ans dung by Neeraj Shridhar and Amrita Kak, this one is a sure winner out of Pritam’s hatA cracking, peppy song full of masti. If its a Pritam’s album then iot will have a romantic song in it. So here it is- Humko Pyaar Hua by KK and Tulsi Kumar. english Lyrics in the beinging of the song putts me off though, and the song sounds like previous Pritam’s song. Didn’t find anything new. Can be heard just once that also coz of KK.

Overall the Album has 4 songs out of which 3 are foot tapping catchy numbers. Out of which I feel 2 will be chart busters. Pritam delivers in parts here. I don’t need to say Salman fans will anyways love it. Lets wait and see now how the film fares.

Ranbeer & Priyanka- Anjaana- Anjaani- Music & More

On Sunday Provogue Designers Kunal Rawal & Nishka Lulla unveiled the star studded glamorous Fashion Show with celebrity guests Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor promoting their movie Anjana-Anjani with Celebrity City models walking the ramp at Trilogy, Sea Princess, Juhu. This was the reopening of the Trilogy club by Henry Tham who use to own the club In Colaba.

Ranbeer donned a new French Cut beard with long hair. This looks like for the Rockstar role he is doing in the coming movie. Didn’t impress me much but still lets see how it turns out to be. Priyanka Chopra was the one who disappointed me. Looked like she got a fake tan all over the body which too much of make up. The Anjana-Anjani duo is not a perfect pair as for me. Apparently the movie release has been postponed. Major reason for this has been the distributor Issue which Eros is facing following the London Dreams debacle and they are asking for more money or get the old one reimbursed.  Anyways lets see what will be the result.

In the mean time enjoy the Anjaana-Anjaani songs everywhere. Especially the title track by Nikhil D’ SOuza & Monali Thakur. This one is a catchy pep number. Another winner in the album is Hairat sung By Lucky Ali is a refresher and so is the song Tujhe BHula Diya by Mohit Chauhan. Both these singers need to sing more nice songs and keep us happy with these songs.  The Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Khan number- Tu Na Jaane Aas Paas Hai Khuda is another good song, but I feel we are getting too much of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan these days. Hope we don’t get bored of him in every second song.

Dabangg- Music Review

Dabangg is already rocking on TV and Radio stations. Since the time Salman has released the trailer, the movie has become one of the most awaited movie of the year. And all thanks to Robinhood Pandey aka Sallu bhai. Now add some Sajid Wajid music to Salman’s dancing style and yes the result is some foot tapping and interesting numbers. I believe Sajid-Wasid has taken a leaf out of Salman’s book and is trying to cash upon the formula music. With movie based upon a small town in North, the look & feel of the movie is very much according to that and so is the music. The soundtrack of the movie is dhinchak but doesn’t there is nothing great of out of the box. Lets check it out what’s stored in for us.

The Album opens with “Tere Mast Mast Do Nain”. Sung by Rahat Fateh Ali khan and written by Faiz Anwar, this number is a slow love number which is very hummable. A sweet melodious number, which is worth a listen. Video is even better..go check out on Youube NOW. There are other two versions one with Shreya Ghoshal and remix version. Out of this only SHreay’s version is better where as the remix version disappoints.

Then comes the chart buster “Munni Badnaam hui” sung by Mamta Sharma and Aishwarya in their own rustic voice penned by Jalis Sherwani, this is one hell of a number. I haven’t seen so much craze about a song in a long time. Lyrics of this new “item number” are brilliant accompanied by peppy music. The expressions used in the song say it all- “Munni badnaam hui, darling tere liye, munni ke gaal gulaabee, nayan sharaabee, chaal nabaabee re…. Re zandu bam hui, darling tere liye………”. “Shilpa si figure, Bebo si ada…can it get better now :P Sajid and Wajid have used traditional instruments and have taken the best out of them. So after Beedi Jalayele, Kajrare or other songs..this one is ready to join the list…Aakhir munni badnaam hui hai toh bawal hona hi chaiye….

“Chori Kiya Re Jiya” is a slow mushy number by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal.  A very sweet and simple in rendition. Hear it once or twice and you will catch on to this one. Next is “Udd Udd Dabangg”. Sung by Sukhwinder singh, this is supposed to be the soundtrack on the movie, but sounds like copy from Omkara title track.  Not as effective the Omkara track but will have to see how it suits with Salman with it.

“Humko Peeni hai”, tries to be the next bewada song, but does not looks like it will catch on with the bewadas around. Heavy on dholak & tablas and sung by Wajid, Master Salim and Shabab Sabri. Was expecting this to be much more entertaining and catchy, but this one disappoints. Lastly, there is dabangg title track which is somewhat better. a bit of hard hitting music with some wild wild west feel to it. Now this will go on with Salman’s image in the movie. Accompanied by dialogues of the movie, this one is the promotional stuff we see on TV.

Overall Dabangg’s music is not something different or exceedingly good. Some might fight is too cheesy wit all those lyrics and some might see it more loud, but what ever said and done, this one will hit the right note with the masses and not the classes. Just stick with Munni & Tere mast mast do nain and it won’t disappoint you.

Vishal-Shekhar’s I Hate Luv Story’s Music Review- Refreshing

Directed by Punit Malhotra, I Hate Luv Storys doesn’t only have an unique spelling  but also some refreshing tracks. The duo of Vishal-Shekhar gives us some very beautiful and refreshing tracks which sets the tone for the movie. With the young starcast of Imraan & Soham the tracks needs to fit to the youngsters. Lets see what Vishal -Shekhar has stored for us in this album.

The album has around 8 tracks which include both remixes & originals. The album opens with Jab Mila Tu sung by Vishal Dadlani. First listen and this song will remind you of Jaane Kyu from the movie Dostana. It’s still a feel nice song. A good one time listen. Next comes up is Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan & Sunidhi Chauhan’s Bin Tere. A very good melodious number with some good lyrics. Very well sung by Shafqat who gives us a good break from all the regular singers.  A soothing number which is worth a listen.

The acoustic version of Bin Tere sung by Shekhar and his guitar is just as refreshing as the original one but I found it more melodious and appealing than the original. Beautifully sung by Shekhar. Can be the next romantic number to hit the ipods. The remix version of the album is jst fine and mixed fr the discs.

The third original in the album is the title track I hate Luv Storys.  Sung by Vishal Dadlani himself, this one is a peppy & a catchy track. Mix of english and hindi lyrics might make this one appealing to some people. Fine for one time listen. Next in line comes an unsual number for the album. A surprise one- Bahara sung by Shreya Ghoshal with some earthy lyrics from Sona Mahaparta. Sona comes in the background with some good folky tunes with Shreya in the foreground makes this one a good listen. There is a chill version of Bahara with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan  but I believe the original one does the work with me. Plus Vishal-Shekhar should have experimented Sona & Rahat Fateh here.

The last track in the album is Sadka Kiya sung by Suraj Jagan & Mahalaxmi Iyer. Now this one will slowly creep over you. Suraj Jagan & Mahalaxmi Iyer delivers very well in the vocals, with some very good lyrics  & the wonderful music. Another romantic number which will surely woo people. One of the best tracks of the album.

Overall the album is quite refreshing one.  Best part of the album is that all songs are good and worth listening. Vishal-Shekhar never ceases to disappoint and they don’t do it this time too.

Love Aaj Kal: Pritam Does it Again

I Should Say that Pritam has done it again. Not just he has”inspired” songs from old songs (the nagin music) or Pakistani songs (Aahun Aahun), but he hasn’t left any stone unturned to make this album worth listening to. All songs on the first listening will hit you…but osmeday you have to get bored of it.

The album has 10 songs out of which 3 are remixes. With the singers like Neeraj Sridhar, KK, Sunidhi & Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Jazzy B the album is ready for a punch.

The album opens with the song you ncan hear on TV/Fm stations these days “Twist”. With music “inspired” from the popular naagin tune with other bits and peices here and there, the song is a foot tapping number. Neeraj Sridhar puts jaan in this music with his vocals and this song is soon going to be a chartbuster for sure.

The second song “Aahun Aahun” starts with Jazzy B singing his version of a highly popular Pakistani song “Kadi Te hans Bol ve” by Madan Maddi. So first two songs are highly “inspired” songs it seems. in this song Neeraj joing Jazzy B to give some twist to the song. Both Jazzy B & Neeraj Sridhar teams up to give us another song worth listening.

Ajj Din Chadheya is typical Rahat Fateh Ali Khan song.Do I need to describe the song anymore :) The song is slow, soothing with aalaap’s from Rahat. The lyrics of this song are also good.

Thoda Thoda Pyar, is a “sangeet” song. This is Pitam mixing today’s music with folk music and Sunidhi provides vocals for the same. Not too great according to me.

Chori Bazari is sung by Neeraj Sridhar, and Sunidhi Chauhan. Can’t get enough of Neeraj it seems. He still seems to sing same kinda songs everywhere. A very interesting, realistic, songs it sounds but still the music looks to me that I have heard it before. The Lyrics are very interesting and nice. This song is a good package all though.

KK has always impressed me in the past. The song “Main Kya hoon” sung by KK looks like a disappointment for me. I expected a lot from KK and this song doesn’t impresses me a bit. Besides KK’s vocals nothing interests me here.

Ye Dooriyaan sung by Mohit Chauhan, is a good number. The song is slow and Mohit sings it well. Worth hearing it once.

Overall the album is worth a lsiten. Except Twist, Aahun Aahun & Chori Baazari, no other songs will be on the charts it looks.
